NICHE ASLP SYMPOSIUM SERIES II

The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, organized the NICHE ASLP SYMPOSIUM SERIES II on the topic “SCREEN TIME CONSIDERATIONS AND HEARING HEALTH.” on August 7, 2025.

Expert talks were given by Ms. Vrinda R, Lecturer, Department of Neuro Developmental Sciences, National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), Thiruvananthapuram, who spoke on "Screen Time Considerations in Early Childhood," and Ms. Arya Chand, Senior Lecturer, Department of Audiology, National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), Thiruvananthapuram, who presented on "Hearing Science: The Basics." Both sessions were informative, interactive, and thought-provoking. An interactive session followed the expert talks, with active participation from students and faculty. Students provided feedback, stating that both sessions offered new insights and greatly aided their understanding of assessment and management in the field.

The symposium began with a warm welcome address by Prof. S.A. Ramsankar, Head of the Department, who highlighted the relevance of the topic in present times. The session was interactive and well-received by the attendees. At the end of the event, Mr. Ananthan A.V, Assistant Professor, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speakers for their informative session and to the participants for their enthusiastic involvement. As a token of appreciation, the resource persons were felicitated by Prof. S.A. Ramsankar.

A total of 50 students from the department attended the symposium. The event served as a valuable learning experience, providing both theoretical and practical perspectives on Screen Time in Child Development and Importance of Hearing Health.
